Undergraduate Degree Completion Programs

Child and Family Development

The degree in Child and Family Development enable students to work with children and families in various settings. Due to the changes and diversities among modern families, there is an increasing demand for Child and Family Development Professionals. Opportunities at the state/federal level are anticipated due to the massive retirement of the baby boomer generation. In addition, many Child and Family Development graduates apply and are accepted to graduate schools in related field such as Marriage and Family Therapy, School Counseling, Family Law, Special Education, Elementary/Early Childhood Education, Counseling, and Human Development and Family Sciences.

Criminal Justice

Our undergraduate degree will prepare you for a wide variety of careers within criminal justice. With elective courses in juvenile justice, terrorism and homeland security, criminal investigations, and international justice, our extensive curriculum includes many current issues important to the field. Cybersecurity

Design and Drafting Technology

You will gain a broad-based background in CADD and elect an area of specialization tailored to your career goals. The areas of specialization include: Mechanical (Product/Machine) Design, Architectural/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Piping/ Plumbing Systems, Civil/GIS, and Computer Graphics.

Elementary Education (Grades 1-6)

Elementary Education majors in the grades 1-6 option will be certified to teach in any classroom grades 1-6. Students may add additional certifications with this major such as early childhood or middle school certification.

Elementary Education majors study a core of education and liberal arts classes. Combined with a professional education semester that includes 16 weeks of student teaching. Elementary Education majors choose a teaching area of concentration. These are: Art, English, Instructional Technology, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Science, Social Studies, and Speech Communication or Theatre.

The General Studies major was designed to assist students who are seeking a degree completion program that is flexible in both requirements and delivery options.

This major allows you to make use of your existing college credits and create a program tailored to fit your needs and interests. The General Studies major allows you to create an academic program that is personalized to meet your educational and career goals.

Nursing

A BSN degree from the University of Central Missouri opens the door to a variety of rewarding and flexible career opportunities in the health care industry.
This highly competitive program offers a wide-range of learning and hands-on experiences in a range of medical facilities. Students entering UCM as freshment or by transfer should indicate a pre-nursing major. Admission to the nursing program is conditional upon completion of a minimum of sixty semester hours. Admission to the Department of Nursing involves competition between all eligible candidates. Students are selected in March for Fall semester nursing classes and in October for Spring.

Foundation and departmental scholarships are available.

Student groups like the Student Nursing Organization offer a sense of community.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology is an excellent option for those interested in Psychology and planning a career in a variety of areas that value scientific problem solving skills and an understanding of human behavior. It has more flexibility in major requirements than the B.S. and can be completed either on our Warrensburg campus or at the UCM Lee's Summit.

Systems Engineering

The Systems Engineering Technology program is a unique blend of Computer Information Systems and Networking courses that prepare graduates for a career in the exciting and continually growing IT world. The SET program was developed in collaboration with some of the most progressive, high-tech industries in the country in order to meet their ever-changing needs. Students will receive a strong background in operating systems, database management, and networking, making them a valuable asset to any company.
This program is offered in cooperation with the Metropolitan Community College and the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District. The Proragm is offered exclusively at the Central Summit Campus in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

College Student Personnel Administration (M.S.)

The mission of the Master of Science degree program in College Student Personnel Administration is to prepare outstanding generalists for a broad range of entry-level and mid-level positions in student life, student development, student services, and other professional staff areas in institutions of higher education. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice in both classroom and field-based settings in order to graduate professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills, commitment to ethics, respect for diversity, and caring to enrich the lives of students with whom they work. Cooperative Ed.D. Educational Leadership

Students may pursue a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership at the University of Central Missouri. The degree is conferred by the University of Missouri-Columbia. The program uses a cohort format that requires the student to complete required course work in two years. A dissertation follows the course work. Students are accepted into the cohort group every two years
