Threats and Violence Policy

I. Purpose

The University of Central Missouri strives to maintain the university community as an orderly place, conducive to work, study and leisure for all those involved in the business of the university and free from personal violence.

II. Policy

Actions to create a climate of fear or intimidation will not be tolerated at the University of Central Missouri. Threats or implied threats, physical intimidation or any form of violent behavior will result in appropriate action by the university. Administrative disciplinary, student judicial, civil and/or criminal penalties will be pursued as appropriate. It is the responsibility of every member of the campus community to take any threat or violent act seriously, to consult with appropriate individuals, and to take action as prescribed in the university’s procedures.

III. Procedures

The president of the university is charged with developing procedures to implement this “Threats and Violence Policy.” The president of the university should work with the general counsel, provost, director for administration and the director of public safety to develop a procedure that meets the parameters set forth in the policy.
