Posted: 1/24/2014 - Lifelong Learning at UCM presents "Behind the Scenes: Preparations for President Obama’s Visit to UCM" at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Elliott Student Union, Room 237A. A three-person panel will share insights into preparing the university for a visit from a sitting president, the first of its kind for UCM. The program is free and open to the public.
Each panelist will explain the kinds of details that had to be considered by his or her staff members for President Obama’s visit on July 24, 2013. Kim Vansell, director of Public Safety, will address security and safety concerns. Beth Rutt, director of Campus Activities, will describe some of the strategic planning to accommodate students and other visitors to the event. Chris Bamman, director of Facilities, Planning, and Operations, will provide a perspective of how staff joined forces to make sure the facilities were as convenient and comfortable as possible.
