Department Chairs


The department chair is a key academic leader who, in addition to serving in managerial and administrative capacities, fulfills responsibilities as a member of the faculty by teaching and engaging in scholarly/creative activities and service. The chair reports directly to the dean of the college housing the academic department.


The determination of reassigned time to fulfill chair administrative responsibilities is .75 FTE, as approved by the dean. The dean, on an annual basis, and taking into account the needs of the department and college, is responsible for determining whether the chair is appointed to an 11 or 12 month contract. The chair reports directly to the dean of the college housing the academic department.
