Gain the skills employers look for through our online, self-paced course

The University of Central Missouri Medical Transcription and Editing certificate program is designed to help you launch a career in the healthcare field. There is a growing demand for well-trained medical transcription professionals with around 266 new jobs expected in the next five years. Medical transcription is primarily a work-from-home occupation, giving you the opportunity to have a professional career from your own home. Most healthcare providers outsource their medical transcription work to national healthcare documentation companies, which hire medical transcription professionals from all over the company to transcribe and edit records from their homes in an online, virtual work environment. These professionals are usually paid on a production basis with the average salary at approximately $30,300 annually. Our program is certified and approved through the Approval Committee for Certification, established by the Association for Healthcare Documentation and the American Healthcare Information Management Association. Through this program, students earn an industry-recognized certificate and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.
