Dr. Kidwaro is the Program Coordinator of the Agriculture program at the University of Central Missouri. He moved to the United States from Vihiga, Kenya in 1983, to attend college. Dr. Kidwaro received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy from Truman State University. He continued his education at Central Missouri by earning a Master of Science Degree in Agronomy. He also holds a doctoral degree in Agronomy from the University of Missouri.
Dr. Kidwaro is a member of the Crop Science Society and the American Society of Agronomy. He is also a member and an active participant in Missouri Academy of Science (MAS) where his students present scientific papers. He has previously served as the Chair of Agriculture section for MAS.
Research and Areas of Interest
Dr. Kidwaro is currently conducting research in cereal and forage crops at Prussing and Mitchell street university farms. His research is focused on cropping systems management to improve sustainability and productivity for farmers in Mid-Missouri. He has started a corn and soybean variety testing program to expose Mid-Missouri farmers and students to new bio-technology in agriculture industry. He is also engaged in Switch grass research (a non food crop) for production of carbonized biomass and cellulosic ethanol. Areas of interest are Nutrient Management, Precision Agriculture, Forage Management, and Alternative Crops. He is a research team member of Center for Alternative Fuels and Environmental Systems (CAFES), an interdisciplinary center involved in education, outreach, and research.
