Teacher Certification

 

Admission to the Teacher Education Program

Undergraduate students must meet the following requirements to be admitted into the Teacher Education Program:

  • Complete the Application for Admission to the Teacher Education Program.
  • Complete a minimum of 36 semester hours of college credit.
  • Achieve a Content GPA of 3.0 or higher and a Professional Education GPA of 3.0 or higher with no grade lower than a C in any professional education courses.
  • Complete the following courses with a grade of "C" or better:
    EDFL 2100 Introduction to the Teaching Profession
    FLDX 2150 Introductory Field Experience
    EDFL 2240 Educational Psychology
    EDSP 2100 Education of the Exceptional Child
  • Request a Program Recommendation for Admission to Teacher Education from your faculty mentor.
  • Pass a background check through the approved DESE agent.
  • Pass the below sections of the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA). 
    • UCM Passing Scores for MoGEA Subsections:
      • Reading  - 183
      • Writing - 167
      • Math - 180
