Dr. Aksoy received his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Cybersecurity at the University of Central Missouri.
Dr. Aksoy’s research focuses on cybersecurity (including network security, anomaly detection, and intrusion detection), network traffic fingerprinting (such as operating system identification, IoT device classification, and user fingerprinting), machine learning (including inductive learning and rule-based classifiers), large language models, explainable AI, and evolutionary computing. His current work emphasizes AI-driven approaches for device identification and interpretable cybersecurity solutions. Dr. Aksoy is a GIAC-certified Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA).
