The University of Central Missouri is hosting a Computer Information Systems and Analytics competition for high school students where they will have an opportunity to demonstrate their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in the current technology trends, such as, the impact of big data on businesses and agriculture, meet with other students, interact with university's faculty and get familiar with the university atmosphere. We look forward to your participation in the competition!
A maximum of 4 teams per school can participate. Each team can have up to 3 students.
Each team will submit a 10- to 15-minute video presenting their solution to a given problem statement. You will receive the problem statement after the registration. After you use a tool to solve the problem, please create a PowerPoint presentation of your solution that explains in detail about your process, analysis, visualizations, results, sources used and your data story. Make a video while you present from your PowerPoint slides. Then upload the video on the submission page.

Competition Registration and Submission
Department of Accountancy, Big Data Analytics and Computer Information Systems
Registration: The registration is now open. The deadline to register is March 14th, 2025 at 11:59 PM CDT.
Video Submission: The deadline to submit is March 21st, 2025 at 11:59 PM CDT.
Event: All the participants will be invited to an event at our Lee’s Summit campus on Monday, April 7th, 2025. Selected solutions will be presented. The event will include lunch, a training session on Tableau and awards.
You will receive the problem statement after the registration.
We suggest Tableau as we will also have a Tableau session during the event on April 7th. However, you may use software such as Excel, Google Sheets or others. Please note that Tableau offers free access here to students and teachers for a limited period.
Each team will submit the presentation video here.
The submissions will be graded for the thoroughness of data analysis, creative and meaningful visualizations, innovation, presentation, comprehensiveness and the use of appropriate tools and resources.
Each of the team members of the top team will earn $2,000 in scholarship. Each team member of the next three teams will receive $500 in scholarship. All other participants will receive $100 each in scholarship.
These scholarships will be granted and applied towards the tuition if students pursue CIS or Analytics programs at the University of Central Missouri.
