Ms. Jean Nuernberger, Associate Professor of Social Work, earned her MSW from the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare with a concentration in Social Administration and Planning. She completed coursework in the doctoral program at KU’s School of Social Welfare as well. Her interests in teaching are social work policy and practice. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Missouri. Her social work practice experience includes direct practice with clients as well as administration and program management. Her practice experience includes working with survivors of sexual assault and abuse (children and adults), others who have experienced trauma, and working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and their parents/families.
Ms. Nuernberger serves as chair of the school of human services in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies. The school includes programs in child and family development, communication disorders, and social work. Students integrate academic and practice experiences in the school's Welch-Schmidt Center for Communication Disorders, the Central Missouri Clinic for Individual, Couple and Family Therapy, and the Family Resource Center.
