Four Commencement Ceremonies Honor UCM Graduates Dec. 8-9

The University of Central Missouri celebrates its 2023 Fall Commencement exercises this weekend in the Multipurpose Building.


WARRENSBURG, MO – Thousands of visitors will be welcomed to Warrensburg Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9 as the University of Central Missouri hosts 2023 Fall Commencement exercises in the Multipurpose Building. The celebration brings families, friends and students together for four ceremonies honoring approximately 1,400 individuals who have met undergraduate and graduate degree requirements and a number of early and late walkers who are eligible to participate. Anyone who cannot attend but would like to view the ceremonies can do so virtually by clicking on the UCM Commencement Livestream page.

UCM President Roger Best will confer degrees upon graduates in each ceremony. In addition to his participation, there will be remarks at each graduation event presented by a member of the Board of Governors, an academic college dean, and a graduating student. UCM music faculty and students will engage in the weekend festivities as participants in the Brass Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and UCM Concert Choir.

Commencement exercises begin with the graduate ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 conferring master’s degrees upon candidates in the College of Health, Science and Technology (CHST). Graduation ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, will honor master’s degree candidates from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS); Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies (HCBPS); and College of Education (COE). 

Undergraduate ceremonies are planned for Saturday afternoon, and begin at 1:30 p.m. with the recognition of baccalaureate degree candidates from CHST and CAHSS. At 5 p.m., degrees will be conferred  upon students who completed bachelor’s degrees in COE, HCBPS, as well General Studies and Crisis and Disaster Management programs.

Other events planned during commencement weekend include the Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony and Reception at 9 a.m. Friday at the UCM Alumni Memorial Chapel and the CHST Graduate Student Reception, 3-5 p.m., in Elliott Student Union, Room 236. On Saturday, the Nursing Recognition Ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. in Hendricks Hall and the Graduate Student Reception for COE, CAHSS, and HCBPS takes place from 10 a.m-1:30 p.m. in Elliott Student Union, Rooms 237A-B.
