ML King Celebration Includes Recognition for Knob Noster High School Student, Warrensburg/WAFB Family for Community Service

The 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Networking Lunch and Community Service Awards program honored an area high school student and a local family who are making a difference in local schools and the communities they serve through exceptional volunteerism.

Artistic Expression Abounds at 2022 MLK Freedom Scholarship Fundraiser

While showcasing artistic expression in many forms, members of the University of Central Missouri and the Warrensburg community came together Jan. 18 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr during the Freedom Scholarship Fundraiser at UCM’s Elliott Student Union. The theme for the evening event in the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom was titled “Living the Dream: Live and in Color,” utilizing a new format while pursuing giving opportunities to help fund scholarships for students to attend UCM.

UCM Professor Emerita Mary McCord Recognized with 2022 MLK Community Service Award

In an event that kicked off the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, annual Community Service Awards named for King were presented during a luncheon conducted by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce at Matthews-Crawford American Legion Post 131. University of Central Missouri Professor Emerita of Business and Social Enterprise Dr. Mary McCord was one of two individuals honored during the brief award ceremony on Jan. 12, which was presented with the theme “Living the Dream: Live and In Color.”

2022 MLK Celebration, 'Living the Dream: Live and in Color' Events Announced

With the 2022 theme, “Living the Dream: Live and in Color,” the University of Central Missouri in January will host a variety of special events on campus and in cooperation with local organizations to honor the legacy of civil rights leader and humanitarian Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Freedom Scholarship Fundraiser, Community Praise and Worship Service, and the annual Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce Community Service Awards Luncheon are among these special events, in addition to other opportunities at UCM’s Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit campuses.

MLK 2016 Praise and Worship Service Planned for Jan. 18

The Performing Arts Series at the University of Central Missouri and the Warrensburg Ministerial Association will host the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Praise and Worship Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in the Alumni Memorial Chapel on the UCM campus.
