KMOS 'Making' Series Honored by Missouri Broadcasters Association

WARRENSBURG, MO – KMOS-TV was recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) during an awards ceremony at its annual convention at the Lake of the Ozarks on June 3. The University of Central Missouri's public broadcasting station received a first-place award in the category “Special Program” for a story on the Missouri Meerschaum Company, part of the second season of its original series “Making.”

Hosted by blacksmith Matt Burchett, the series, “Making,” included this profile of the company and its 150+ year history of making corncob pipes in Missouri. This episode also featured the Big Muddy Rug Hookers Guild and ceramic artist Yukari Kashihara. “Making” is comprised of 12 programs and can
be viewed at the KMOS website (kmos.org) New episodes will be available this fall on KMOS-TV and online.

The MBA conducted three days of professional development sessions during its annual convention held June 1-3 at Margaritaville Lake Resort, and on the last night presented this award to KMOS, along with 234 other awards and inducted seven individuals into the MBA Hall of Fame.

KMOS serves the citizens of 38 central Missouri counties with high quality, educational content and experiences online, over-the-air and in our communities. KMOS-TV broadcasts programs for all ages on four channels, and is integral to engaged learning as a professional learning lab for students from a
variety of disciplines at UCM.

The MBA promotes the success and prosperity of Missouri’s Broadcasters and the survival of the broadcasting industry through representation in Jefferson City, as a training resource for stations, and by recognizing excellence and achievement among its members.
