WARRENSBURG, MO – University of Central Missouri Theatre and Dance announces its fall 2023 auditions for “Everybody,” directed by Jenise Cook, visiting assistant professor of theatre; “Cinderella,” directed by Dr. Aaron Scully, assistant professor of theatre and dance; and Studio Theatre One-Acts, directed by UCM students.

While all Musical Theatre/Performance majors are required to audition, all other interested students, regardless of their year at UCM, are welcome to try out for roles in these productions. Individuals who want to be part of these fall productions should follow the audition schedule as provided below.

The audition schedule begins with an informational meeting in the James L. Highlander Theatre at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, followed by cold readings at 7:30 p.m. at the same location. Sign-up is required for the readings as well as a singing audition. Individuals who are interested can sign-up outside Martin Building 113. Those who plan to participate in the singing audition will sing 32 bars of a song in which they will provide their own sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.  Only individuals who are called back have the opportunity to participate in the dance auditions.

Callbacks for Studio Theatre One-Acts, which will have roles for 15 students, and “Everybody,” with roles for 11 students, are slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.  From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, there are opportunities to audition for singing slots in “Cinderella,” which also requires sign-up. Dance auditions and callbacks for “Cinderella” begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21.

Cast lists will be emailed to students on Tuesday, Aug. 22. Studio Theatre One-Acts and rehearsals for “Everybody” begin at 6:30 p.m. that same day. An audition information and casting packet has been shared on the Theatre and Dance callboard in Martin Building 113 and sent via email to all Musical Theatre/Performance majors and minors.
