Show poster for "The Lost Musketeer" with showtimes and location“The Lost Musketeer” is a swashbuckling adventure filled with sword fights, disguises, comedy and courage. Set in 17th-century France, the play follows Geneviève, a young woman who disguises herself as a man to pursue her dream of becoming a Musketeer. After her secret is discovered and she is banished from Paris, she uncovers a dark conspiracy in the village of Valdore and must battle the ruthless Célestine de Montfaucon to save its people. With the help of the eccentric healer Gaspard Lefèvre, Geneviève embarks on a daring quest for justice, freedom and truth.

“The Lost Musketeer” is directed by Aaron Scully, Ph.D., associate professor of Theatre at the University of Central Missouri (UCM), and written by John Plasencio, a Spring 2026 graduate of the UCM Division of Theatre and Dance. The play is appropriate for all ages and runs about one hour.

“This show is going to be a ton of fun for the kids, but I think parents will enjoy it too,” Scully said. “It’s a story of pursuing dreams, never giving up, having courage and fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves. It’s also really funny! I really think everyone will enjoy themselves.”

“The Lost Musketeer” will be on tour, presenting performances at several sites in West Central Missouri. Public performances include 10 a.m. June 3 and 7 p.m. June 7 at the Highlander Theatre on the UCM Warrensburg campus. Admission is free. Touring performances include The Lex in Lexington, Missouri, and The Farris Theatre in Richmond, Missouri.

The company includes Emma Stevens as Genevieve Brouchouet, Audrey Shepard as Gaspard and Louis XIII, and Madison Keep as Celestine. Scully is the director/production manager and developed the story for this show, and Plasencio is the playwright. The production team also includes Stage Manager Molly Jones, Scenic Designer/Technical Director Daniel Aubun, Costume, Hair and Makeup Designer Avory Nail, Sound Designer Aleksandra Combs and Public Relations and Social Media Manager Madison Keep.

This season marks the 46th anniversary of Central Missouri Repertory bringing live children’s theatre productions to West Central Missouri.

This year, Central Missouri Repertory is made possible by generous donations from Patricia Burton and UCM Theatre and Dance, and by public support from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
