The University of Central Missouri (UCM) will welcome nearly 1,000 new students and their families to the Warrensburg campus Thursday, Aug. 13, as part of UCM Kickoff, marking the start of the fall semester.

Residence hall move-in activities will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and local residents should expect increased traffic, especially near campus and along South Maguire Street.

To help facilitate a smooth and efficient move-in process, temporary traffic changes and designated routes will be in effect around campus:

Ellis Complex (Christopher Street Area)

  • Christopher Street (300 block off South Maguire) will be one-way eastbound only.

  • Westbound traffic will be closed at Zoll Street.

  • Unloading zones will be located around the Ellis Complex for drop-off. Vehicles must then be moved to nearby parking lots.

South Yeater, Todd and Fitzgerald Halls (Holden Street Area)

  • South Holden Street from East Clark Street to East Hunt Street will be one-way southbound.

  • No northbound traffic will be allowed from East Hunt Street.

  • Houx Street will be westbound only for its entire length.

  • Students are encouraged to access Holden Street from roadways north of campus to avoid congestion on South Maguire.

  • Temporary unloading zones will be available along both Holden and Houx streets.

Houts, Hosey and Nickerson Halls (Washington Street Area)

  • South Washington Street from Houx to King Street will be northbound only.

  • No southbound traffic will be allowed from King Street.

  • Students are encouraged to approach from South Warren Street to Hillcrest Drive to avoid congestion on Holden and Maguire.

  • Temporary unloading zones will be available along South Washington Street.

The UCM Department of Public Safety reminds all families that temporary unloading zones are strictly for unloading only. Vehicles may not be left unattended. After unloading, families must move their vehicles to designated parking areas before returning to assist with moving in.

Directional signage will be installed across campus to guide traffic to the correct drop-off locations.
