Board Sets Room and Board Rates Among Several Action Items

Among several action items on a busy agenda, the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors set student room and board rates for 2016-2017 when it met on campus March 18. Other items approved by the board included the purchase of new equipment for the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, improvements to the South Plaza entry area of Audrey J. Walton Stadium, the award of a contract for dredging Lake Cena, and upgraded fire alarm system for Nattinger-Bradshaw Hall.

UCM Members Join Senator Pearce for MPP Loss Control Workshop

Representatives of the University of Central Missouri were joined by Missouri Senator David Pearce in St. Louis recently to participate in a program that is helping higher education institutions save millions of dollars. They attended the Master Property Program (MPP) Loss Control Workshop, made possible through Missouri’s membership in the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC).

Physical Education Students' Mentor, Teacher Selected for Governor's Award

Praised by professional colleagues for his commitment to a strong pedagogy program and innovative approach to education , Ken Bias on Friday, March 18, was named the University of Central Missouri’s recipient of the Governor’s Excellence in Education Award. The announcement of the award selection was made during a meeting of the Board of Governors. Bias, an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition and Kinesiology whose focus is on physical education teacher education, will now be honored during an awards luncheon hosted by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon April 13 Jefferson City.
