WARRENSBURG, MO - The Central Missouri Repertory Theatre at the University of Central
Missouri will present the world premiere of the children's play "Once in the Time
of the Rainbow Crow" by Claudia I. Haas this summer at locations throughout west-central
central Missouri during June.The performance is under the direction of John Wilson,
professor of theatre and chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance.
"Once in the Time of the Rainbow Crow" will be on tour, presenting free public performances
at several sites in west-central Missouri:
- June 8 at Whiteman Air Force Base;
- June 9 at Camp Wonderland, Lake of the Ozarks;
- June 10 in Richmond;
- June 15 in Carrollton;
- June 16 in Warrensburg, and
- June 17 in Marshall.
All performances start at 10 a.m., with exception of June 9 at 11 a.m.
When a sudden “white blanket” covers the woods, the woodland animals are left with
chattering teeth and an inability to keep warm. The Rainbow Crow volunteers to go
have a chat with The Creator to see if The Creator can undo the white blanket of snow.
It is a perilous two-day journey to The Creator’s home in the sky. Rainbow Crow is
apprehensive, but he braves the journey, meeting an assortment of sky spirits on the
way.
The company includes: Stephanie Laaker as Deer/Kimook; Lisa Fiori as Little Bird/Ilan;
Bryson Kenworthy as Bunny/Kishu; Adam Segura as Coyote/Alank; Kaelyn Whitt as Squirrel/Kikook;
Nellie Maple as Crow. and Daniel Parman as Creator. Marcela R. Gonzalez as the assistant
company manager, stage manager and assistant director; Libby Pecher is the scenic
designer; Bronwyn Fisher, costume designer; and Andrew Peveler is the technical director
and scene shop personnel.
"Once in the Time of the Rainbow Crow" is sponsored through the support of the Wetzel
Family Foundation. This season marks the 31st anniversary of CMR bringing live children’s
theatre productions to west-central Missouri.
