WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri chapter of the American Institute
of Building Design will host the annual Design and Build Day Tuesday, April 4, in
the Elliott Student Union.
Design and Build Day is a student organized and led conference, sponsored by the AIBD
national organization and the UCM AIBD student chapter. The focus of the conference
is to bring industry professionals and students together outside of the classroom
to educate on the residential building and design industry.
The event is available to all UCM students, as well as students invited to attend
from regional high schools, technical colleges and universities. The goal of the conference
is to reach all students interested in or currently pursuing a degree in architectural
drafting and technology, interior design, construction management, and engineering.
Nearly 100 students are expected to attend.
Sessions will be led by speakersfrom industry, with the event divided into eight sessions
covering:
- AIBD: Becoming a Certified Professional Building Designer
- Experiences of a CPBD
- The Three R's of Remodeling: Retrofitting, Refurbishing, and Renovating
- AmeriCorps and Habitat for Humanity KC
- Intelligent 3D Modeling
- 3D Modeling Demos
- Green and Sustainable Design
- Materials and Finishes for Residential Design
The 2017 Design and Build Day received funding from the UCM Student Funding Committee
and sponsorship from industry contributors.
