Get the Red Out

WARRENSBURG, MO – Continuing a tradition at the University of Central Missouri, members of the Warrensburg community and the university come together for an afternoon of fun Thursday, Sept. 6 to celebrate Get the Red Out. Activities are free and open to the public and take place 4-6:30 p.m. on Holden Street, between Clark and South streets.

This is the 13th year for the street fair, which in 2017 brought an estimated 4,000 people to campus to enjoy a family-fun atmosphere, which once again includes inflatables and games for children, and nearly 200 booths from campus and local organizations and vendors. It also provides an opportunity for children to shoot hoops with Mules and Jennies basketball players and appearances by Mo the Mule, UCM cheerleaders, Mulekickers and the drumline, which perform at home sporting events.

Get the Red Out is sponsored by UCM and the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce. It is an opportunity to celebrate the relationship between campus and community, while also beginning a new athletic season. Kickoff for the Mules first home game is at 7 p.m. at Audrey J. Walton Stadium, featuring the Northeastern State Riverhawks.

To accommodate vendors and groups setting up and leaving the fair, Holden Street, between Clark and South streets, will be closed beginning at noon Sept. 6 and will reopen at 8 p.m. The Warrensburg downtown improvements project includes work on Holden Street, north to the railroad, so motorists are advised to look for alternative routes to the stadium and nearby campus parking facilities.

Learn more about Get the Red Out by visiting ucmo.edu/gtro. Any update such as a cancellation due to weather will be posted at that location, with a goal to make a decision by noon on the day of the event.
