KMOS-TV Receives Regional Emmy Award

WARRENSBURG, MO – The KMOS-TV production “Missouri Life” was recognized by the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as Best Magazine Program in  a ceremony Saturday, Sept. 22. The award-winning episode included visits to the National Churchill Museum in Fulton, the Green Meadow Barn Company, Bek's Restaurant, profiles of local artists and prominent citizens. It was one of two programs from the third season of the series nominated - the other was for the Cape Girardeau program.

The KMOS production team responsible for the current season is Roy Millen, Christy Millen and Eric Boedeker. The on-screen host is Meredith Hoenes. “Missouri Life” is produced in partnership with the publishers of Missouri Life Magazine, Greg Wood and Danita Allen Wood. In 2017, KMOS was nominated for two “Missouri Life” programs in the same category, and received the Regional Emmy for the program on Silver Dollar City.

A fourth season of “Missouri Life” will air Thursday nights beginning Oct. 4, with visits to the Missouri communities of Independence, Clinton, Lebanon, and Ste. Genevieve, and more.

KMOS serves the citizens of 38 central Missouri counties with high quality, educational content and experiences online, over-the-air and in our communities.  The public television station is integral to engaged learning as a professional learning lab for students from a variety of disciplines at the University of Central Missouri.

KMOS-TV broadcasts programming on four channels throughout the region with programs for all ages on 6.1, lifestyle and how-to programs on 6.2, international news and dramas on 6.3, and a full schedule of kid’s programming to fit the schedule of every busy family on 6.4.
    
About Missouri Life Magazine
Greg Wood and Danita Allen Wood revived a previous version of the magazine to feature Missouri’s stunning scenery, its fascinating people, its rich past, and energetic present. The magazine is delivered to 130,000 Missourians and has received many awards from state and international organization, including the International Regional Magazine Association “Magazine of the Year” Award six times between 2008 and 2017.

Judging procedures
All entries are judged by panels assembled by other NATAS Chapter, comprised of no fewer than seven judges who are certified as peers. No more than three judges on a panel may be employed by the same station or company. Judges may not have a conflict of interest, which is described as having a direct involvement in the production of an entry, or having a personal relationship with a member of the production staff of an entry.  KMOS staff members are eligible to join panels to judge entries only from other Regional NATAS chapters.
