UCM Ranks First in State, 34th Nationally as Best for Non-Traditional Students in Homeland Security, Law Enforcement and Firefighting

WARRENSBURG, MO – A recent analysis by College Factual has placed the University of Central Missouri in the top 10% of the country for non-traditional students studying Homeland Security, Law Enforcement and Firefighting. More specifically it was ranked 34th out of 459 institutions of higher education by College Factual but also ranked first out of 14 institutions in Missouri to receive the 2021 Best for Non-Traditional Students Ranking in these majors.

 

The Best Colleges for Non-Traditional Homeland Security, Law Enforcement and Firefighting rankings were determined using objective data emphasizing both quality academic programs and proven support for non-traditional students for these majors.

 

College Factual obtains data from a variety of both private and public sources such as college campuses and data systems operated by the U.S. Department of Education. The methodology behind the rankings published by College Factual includes accounting for popularity, post-graduation earnings and in some cases, factors such as diversity.  The Best for Non-Traditional Students Rankings combined rankings from each major to provide an overall ranking. The program housed in the School of Public Services, has successfully built a flexible academic experience. The Criminal Justice and Criminology degree program at UCM, for example, provides a variety of scheduling options including eight-week, online, and hybrid courses to accommodate working adults while ensuring they receive a quality education at a pace that is right for them.

 

According to Lynn Urban, professor and chair for the School of Public Services, “The CJC program has always been committed to the success of working adults. Our bachelor's and master's programs have been 100% online for many years, with classes taught by the same faculty who teach on campus in Warrensburg.  All students receive a high-quality education, whether on campus or at a distance.”

 

UCM has also been merited by College Factual 56 other times for the 2021 academic year, with the recognition that includes being in the top 5% of schools that provide an overall international value and being in the top 5% most popular institutions for engineering technology studies.
