5.1.010 Undergraduate Admissions Policy

This policy governs the admission of first-time, full-time degree-seeking students and transfer students who have completed 23 or fewer credit hours.

The University of Central Missouri is a moderately selective institution that admits students based upon their ability to succeed at the university. Students admitted to the University of Central Missouri are expected to have completed a 16-unit college-preparatory curriculum requirement and have an admissions index score equal to or exceeding 100. The index score is obtained by combining the percentile ranks from high school rank in class and the ACT College Entrance Examination or an equivalent score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. For example, students who score an ACT of 20, which is the 50th percentile, and who rank at the middle of their class, again the 50th percentile, have an index score of 100. Students with an ACT score of 21 or higher receive automatic admission.

Students not meeting the published criteria will be considered on an individual basis. Admission staff will use professional judgment in admitting students that demonstrate academic promise and potential for success. Additional information, such as letters of recommendation or a personal statement, may be requested. Conditions may be placed upon the enrollment of such students, if admitted to the university.
