Welcome to the Office of Technology! Our goal is to ensure UCM students, faculty and
staff have the appropriate technology resources to advance the University's mission,
vision and values.
The Office of Technology at the University of Central Missouri has the responsibility and duties to leverage and support technology resources for academic activities and administrative functions across campus that directly and indirectly support student success, including:
Technology in higher education is ever-changing. The Office of Technology navigates the fine balance which exists between cutting-edge technology and the ability to provide stable and robust technology resources deployed, leveraged and maintained by the University.
Technology touches every part of higher education. The Office of Technology collaborates with the academic departments and offices to ensure the University of Central Missouri is prepared to face and adapt with the ever-changing landscape of information technology in education. A number of teams work to maintain the campus network, University accounts, hardware and computers, and information security.
From student workers to the president's office, each university account is managed and updated by the Office of Technology.
The Technology Support Center is the first line of support for students who might be experiencing issues with their university account, such as password help, connecting to the wifi and accessing applications like MyCentral and Brightspace. The TSC is available in-person, by phone and email during university operating hours and is located in the lower level of the Ward Edwards Building on the north side of the Quad.
For most university employees, including student workers, account access requests should be made through their supervisor, a department office professional or administrative assistant.
Student workers should be made aware that their student and employee accounts are seperate. Access to applications and programs for thier job are granted through their employee account.
Support is imperative for student success. The TSC works with all UCM offices, departments and students - graduate, undergraduate, and dual credit - to ensure account issues are resolved.
The TSC does not discuss sensitive or protected information with anyone except the account holder. Parents and guardians are not permitted to make or request changes to a student's account.
Contact the TSC at tsc@ucmo.edu or 660-543-4357.
The Office of Technology Information Security Team maintains protocols and practices to safeguard university systems, services and data from unauthorized access. This includes educating university faculty, staff and students on the importance of cybersecurity. The Information Security Team partners with the greater campus community during October, which is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, to provide information about how to be proactive in protecting personal data and university accounts.
Faculty members are encouraged to report interruptions or issues with classroom technology as soon as possible to the TSC at 660-543-4357.
Other hardware issues can be reported through the Service Catalog, a resource for faculty and staff members who need to make a request regarding their UCM account, hardware and phones.
The Technology Support Center provides general technology support to UCM students for university systems by phone (660-543-4357), email (tsc@ucmo.edu), and in-person (WDE 0800). The TSC is available Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students - on campus and online - need to be able to access the appropriate applications and systems to complete their coursework. University systems and applications (such as MyCentral, Brightspace and UCM Email) are accessed through Single Sign-On, and then DUO Multi-Factor Authentication. This two-step process is in place to protect individual accounts and personal data.
All UCM students, including dual credit students, are considered account holders. For the safety and security of all university accounts, the TSC cannot discuss or share protected account information with parents, guardians or high school counselors. Dual credit students experiencing account issues (login error, password help, etc) are encouraged to contact their school counselor if they are unable to make a phone call during the normal school day; the student will still need to be present during the call.
