Welcome to the Office of Technology. Our goal is to ensure UCM constituents have the
appropriate technology resources to meet the Strategic Governance for Student Success.
The Office of Technology at the University of Central Missouri has the responsibility and duties to leverage and support technology resources for academic and administrative activities and functions across campus that directly and indirectly support the Student Success Model and Strategic Resource Allocation. The Office of Technology provides general oversight and technical support of:
With the ever-changing developments in technology resources and how technology resources are deployed and leveraged, a fine balance exists between cutting-edge technology and the ability to provide a stable and robust technology environment.
Technology touches every part of higher education. The Office of Technology collaborates with the academic departments and offices to ensure the University of Central Missouri is prepared to face and adapt with the ever-changing landscape of information technology in education. A number of teams work to maintain the campus network, University accounts, hardware and computers, and information security.
The Office of Technology Information Security Team maintains protocols and practices to safeguard university systems, services and data from unauthorized access. This includes educating university faculty, staff and students on the importance of cybersecurity. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and the Information Security Team partners with the greater campus community to provide information about being proactive in protecting personal data and university accounts.
Faculty members are encouraged to report interruptions or issues with classroom technology as soon as possible to the TSC at 660-543-4357.
Other hardware issues can be reported through the Service Catalog, a resource for faculty and staff members who need to make a request regarding their UCM account, hardware and phones.
From student workers to the president's cabinet, each university account is managed and updated by the Office of Technology.
The Technology Support Center is the first line of support for students who might be experiencing issues with their university account, such as password help, connecting to the wifi and accessing applications like MyCentral and Brightspace. The TSC is available in-person, by phone and email during university operating hours and is located in the lower level of the Ward Edwards Building on the north side of the Quad.
For most university employees, including student workers, account access requests should be made through their supervisor, a department office professional or administrative assistant.
Support is imparative for student success. The TSC works with all UCM students - graduate, undergraduate and dual credit - to ensure account issues are resolved.
The TSC does not discuss sensitive or protected information with anyone except the account holder. Parents and guardians are not permitted to make or request changes to a student's account.
