Army ROTC Scholarships

Army ROTC Scholarship Programs provide financial assistance for the education and training of motivated young men and women who desire to serve as Army officers after graduation from college.

Types of Scholarships 

Four Year National Scholarship

UCM Army ROTC awards several four-year scholarships to students each year, based solely on merit. Qualify, and you could receive a full scholarship for tuition and educational fees, plus money for books and a monthly allowance to help cover the day-to-day costs of college.

3 Year Advanced Designee

If you apply for the four-year scholarship and are not selected, you may be awarded a three-year scholarship instead. This is called a Three Year Advanced Designee Scholarship and begins at the beginning of your sophomore year. See Room and Board for more information.



Army ROTC Fighting Mules Scholarship


The University of Central Missouri also offers the Army ROTC Fighting Mule Scholarship to five Army High School Scholarship applicants who did not receive a High School Scholarship offer from the Army. The Fighting Mule Scholarship is worth $1,000. To Qualify for consideration, you must have at least a 23 ACT and enroll into MS 1110.


The Fighting Mule Scholarship may be increased to $1,500 if a student enrolls into UCM's Cyber Security Degree Program.

Campus Based Scholarships

You may also apply for a 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 or 4-year ROTC Campus Based scholarship through the ROTC department. In order to be eligible you must apply for the two-year scholarship during your sophomore year, and the 3 or 4-year scholarship during your freshman year.

If you apply for this scholarship during your sophomore year on campus, you must have completed the first two years of ROTC or completed Army Basic Training, or agree to complete the leader's training course (LTC).


All National and Campus Based Scholarhsip winners receive:


Tuition - 100% for length of scholarship

Monthly living allowance - $300 - $500 per month

Book Allowance - $1,200 per year

Room & Board - May be eligible for up to FOUR semesters of full Room & Board.



Room & Board

All cadets who receive a scholarship from the Army (not to include GRFD) may be eligible for up to four semesters of full room and board provided they reside in campus housing. 3 Year AD winners may be eligible for Room & Board their freshman year.


Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty Scholarship (GRFD)

National Guard and Army Reserve members who desire to serve as an Officer in the Reserves may be eligible for the GRFD scholarship. A GRFD scholarship Pays $10,000 per year for Room and Board or Tuition and fees each semester for length of the scholarship. A GRFD scholarship may range from 2 to 8 semesters. The GRFD Scholarahip is in addition to any State or Federal Tuition Assistance provided by the National Guard or Reserves.

Typical National Guard GRFD scholarship selectee receives:


GRFD - $5,000 per semester paid directly to student

State Tuitition Assistance - 100% tuition and fees paid by National Guard

Cadet Stipend: $300 - $500 per month

Book Allowance: $1,200 per year
