To help protect the academic and financial data of UCM students, the University of Central Missouri no longer uses individual Social Security Numbers as student ID numbers. Instead, randomly generated 9-character '700' numbers are used.
However, sections 483 and 484 of the 1965 Higher Education Act require that a student's Social Security Number be entered on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal grant, loan or employment assistance. Therefore, when completing and submitting your FAFSA each year, be sure to accurately and carefully enter your Social Security Number in order that your FAFSA data will be 'accepted' by the national FAFSA processing agency. If, after submitting your FAFSA, your SSN does not correspond with the name and birth date on file with the Social Security Administration, you'll be notified by the UCM Office of Student Financial Services regarding how to resolve this discrepancy.
