Financial Aid Checklist and Billing Information 

Use our Financial Aid Checklist below to start your semester off right! Don't miss important billing, payment options, and frequently asked questions links.  

Are You Ready for the Start of Classes?

  1. Complete and Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) 
    Apply for federal and state grant, loan and employment aid. Learn more about the process.
  2. Complete Requirements to Receive Aid 
    Step-by-step, printable instructions are available, and/or you may watch the video to learn how to receive a Federal Financial Aid Award from the UCM Student Financial Service Office. 
    Need Financial Aid Forms?  Print required UCM financial aid documents and forms. 

  3. Accept Your Awards 
    Step-by-step, printable instructions are available, and/or you may watch the video to learn how to view, accept, or decline financial aid award offers.

  4. Learn about Policies that May Affect You 
    Review UCM financial aid policies and procedures to understand how credit hour enrollment, completed credit hours, grades or other situations may affect your financial aid eligibility.
  5. Keep searching for scholarship opportunities 
    Already being considered for UCM Scholarships?  Visit the scholarships page to find an external opportunity that matches your interests!
  6. Review your UCM eStatement
    Once your financial aid has posted to your student account for the current semester, make arrangements to pay any remaining balance due.  Visit the payment options page for more information. 

Your Financial Aid Dashboard

Managing your aid is quick and easy using your Financial Aid Dashboard.  It is located on the SFS tab in MyCentral along with a video tutorial.  Step-by-step printable instructions are also available.

 

 

Federal Loan Requirements and Servicing Information

Entrance Counseling

If you're a first-time Federal Stafford (Student) Loan borrower at the University of Central Missouri, you are required to complete Entrance Counseling before your first loan disbursement can credit your UCM account. During this interactive on-line counseling (which only takes about 15 minutes to complete) you will receive comprehensive information about the Stafford Direct Loan program, your rights and responsibilities as a borrower, and some useful tips and tools for managing your educational expenses and repayment of your loan. Entrance counseling only needs to be completed once.

Master Promissory Note (MPN)

If you're a first-time Federal Loan borrower at UCM, you are required to complete a Master Promissory Note before your first loan disbursement can credit your UCM account.

Stafford (Student) Loan MPN Information

View these instructions to complete the Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note) to learn how to access and navigate the Student Loans website.

If you need assistance, Student Loans offers a "FAQs" menu and multiple methods of contact, including live chat via the "Customer Service/Contact Us" menu. Still need help? Contact the Office of Student Financial Services.

Transfer Students: Ensure you have also sent electronic confirmation of your Entrance Loan Counseling to UCM by logging into Student Loans and following the instructions to "Notify Additional School."

PLUS (Parent) Loan MPN Information

View these instructions to complete the PLUS MPN for Parents to learn how to access and navigate the Student Aid website.

Parents of Transfer Students: Please note: If you have completed a PLUS application for another school, you must apply again and choose UCM as the recipient.

PLUS (Graduate) Loan MPN Information

Exit Counseling

Exit Counseling is required of all Stafford (Student) Loan borrowers before they graduate or otherwise cease attending UCM on at least a half-time basis. Information about your loan repayment options, as well as your rights and responsibilities is provided during this interactive on-line counseling, which takes only about 30 minutes to complete.

You may also wish to visit the U.S. Department of Education's website, which provides complete details about your repayment options, examples of monthly payment schedules for different types of loans, and useful information about how to manage your loan obligations.

National Student Loan Data System 

Federal loan debt may be accessed using the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). NSLDS provides contact information for your loan servicer, loan amount, interest rate and more.
