Mission of the School of Industrial Sciences and Technology

The mission of the School of Industrial Sciences and Technology is to prepare students to be management-oriented technical professionals and entrepreneurs for positions in business, industry and government.

Career-focused curriculum

Through flexible, student-centered undergraduate and graduate programs, the UCM School of Industrial Sciences and Technology will give you a hands-on educational experience supported by a dedicated team of distinguished researchers, engineers and scientists. Every faculty member has direct experience in the field, and they bring their years of experience as leaders and scholars into the classroom to help students apply their knowledge to real-world settings.

All of our major, minor and certificate programs integrate experiential learning through in-class projects, internships or study abroad. Earn course credits and build an impressive resume through working with local companies and organizations, as well as in our state-of-the-art labs and classrooms.

The programs in the School of Industrial Sciences and Technology hold accreditations by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) and prepare you for a broad variety of careers through a focus on the necessary soft skills that can apply to any industry. Our graduates leave with mastery of a diverse range of skills, including creative problem-solving, leadership, collaboration and effective communication — making them impressive candidates for graduate programs and jobs in nearly every industry.

Our ATMAE-accredited Design and Drafting Technology/CADD programs provide you with the support and resources you need to become a designer or manager in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Earn an ABET-accredited Engineering Technology degree to prepare for a number of career fields in the engineering world. From robotics and automation to industrial engineering and engineering management, our Engineering Technology programs have everything you need to excel as an engineer and a leader. Regardless of whether you’re looking for a bachelor’s degree, minor or professional certificate in fashion, we have the degree for you in our AAFCS-accredited Fashion programs. Learn the fundamentals of fashion merchandising, product development, marketing and entrepreneurship at a university close to Kansas City, a growing fashion hub just 30–45 minutes away from either campus.

Elevate your eduation and your career with a graduate level degree or certificate. The School of Industrial Science and Technology offers two MS degree programs, two Graduate Certificates and a Ph.D. consortium program. Both MS level programs have been accredited by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) since 2008.
