Steps to Success in The Honors College

 

Bold italicized items are requirements of The Honors College.

Items not in bold are suggestions on how to best utilize the benefits of being in The Honors College.

First Year

  • Maintain an undergraduate overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Live in the Honors SHIP (Houts: Honors College Hall)
  • Attend Mentoring Night
  • Attend “Developing an Honors Project” information sessions
  • Attend HCSA meetings & events
  • Add thehonorscollege@ucmo.edu to your email Safe Senders List, Address Book or Contact List
  • Regularly check your UCM email account
  • Familiarize yourself with The Honors College website, ucmo.edu/thehonorscollege
  • Follow us on social media: @UCMHonors

Second and/or Third Year (30-89 credit hours)

  • Monitor progress in fulfilling The Honors College Program requirements (see Fourth Year bullets 1-5)
  • Meet with an Honors College staff member to discuss Study Abroad opportunities
  • Attend “Developing an Honors Project” information sessions

Fourth Year (90+ credit hours)

  • Complete 6 credit hours of a single foreign language (if not previously completed prior to senior year, also please reference The Honors College Program, Knowledge Area I for additional details)
  • Complete HONR 3000 (if not previously completed prior to senior year)
  • Have an approved Honors Project Proposal on file (strongly recommended by 90 credit hours)
  • Enroll in HONR 4000 prior to the add/drop date of the semester you plan to complete your Honors Project (if not previously enrolled prior to senior year)
  • Complete HONR 4000 (if not previously completed prior to senior year)
  • Volunteer to be a panel member for “Developing an Honors Project” information session
  • Present your Honors Project at UCM’s Annual Undergraduate Research Conference
  • Receive honors cords, graduation certificate, alumni T-shirt & special recognition in the Commencement Program

The following apply to all second, third, and fourth year students in The Honors College:

  • Maintain an undergraduate overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Opportunity to live in specially assigned Honors Housing
  • Attend HCSA meetings & events
  • Volunteer to be a Mentoring Night mentor
  • Volunteer on HCSA committees and help at honors events
  • Regularly check your UCM email account
  • Familiarize yourself with The Honors College website, ucmo.edu/thehonorscollege
