Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management

Launch an invigorating career in the fast-paced events industry with an event management degree. The University of Central Missouri’s Events Marketing and Management BSBA is a collaboration between two of UCM’s nationally accredited programs, bringing you training from our Management as well as Marketing disciplines. This unique partnership will enable you to run not only successful events but successful businesses as well.

UCM’s bachelor’s degree in Event Management provides hands-on learning experiences anchored by concrete business management skills. Our Event Management degree program was designed with today’s constantly changing event environments in mind and will prepare you to adapt events to virtual or in-person environments. 

Learning how to pivot when needs, resources or circumstances change is a crucial skill for any successful events marketing manager. You’ll have many opportunities to build that skill by practicing it. Manage and execute events for real clients, intern with established businesses and learn about the complexities of business in the best way possible — by starting one.

What is event management?

An event management degree trains you to conceptualize and run events in any field on time and on budget. Over the four years of your Events Marketing degree at UCM, you’ll progress from learning the basics of organizational management to using your skills to run real events. Unique learning opportunities in event management

For Event Marketing majors at the University of Central Missouri, the entire community is your classroom. Experience working with real events is the best way to answer the question, “What is event management?”. While earning your Event Management degree, you’ll regularly attend and assist with off-campus events. Additionally, you’ll get your first taste of being an event marketing manager with these three core experiences:

  • Internship: A paid internship with a specific event management focus will build your experience and professionalism. Past internships have included roles at the KC Royals, KC Monarchs, Starlight wedding venue and the Chamber of Commerce for St. Louis.
  • Integrative Business Experience (IBE): In your junior year, you and your fellow Event Management majors will build and run a one-semester business. Your team will choose a nonprofit, execute a project on their behalf and donate the proceeds to them. Beneficiaries have included Survival House, Big Brother/Big Sister and Missouri Veterans Home.
  • Advanced Events Management: Experience what it’s like to be a professional events marketing manager. Gain insight into the full life cycle of an event when you plan, budget, market, staff, execute and assess one for a client in the community.
