Unique learning opportunities in event management
For Event Marketing majors at the University of Central Missouri, the entire community
is your classroom. Experience working with real events is the best way to answer the
question, “What is event management?”. While earning your Event Management degree,
you’ll regularly attend and assist with off-campus events. Additionally, you’ll get
your first taste of being an event marketing manager with these three core experiences:
- Internship: A paid internship with a specific event management focus will build your experience
and professionalism. Past internships have included roles at the KC Royals, KC Monarchs,
Starlight wedding venue and the Chamber of Commerce for St. Louis.
- Integrative Business Experience (IBE): In your junior year, you and your fellow Event Management majors will build and run
a one-semester business. Your team will choose a nonprofit, execute a project on their
behalf and donate the proceeds to them. Beneficiaries have included Survival House,
Big Brother/Big Sister and Missouri Veterans Home.
- Advanced Events Management: Experience what it’s like to be a professional events marketing manager. Gain insight
into the full life cycle of an event when you plan, budget, market, staff, execute
and assess one for a client in the community.
