Our undergraduate program builds on your knowledge of sports, teamwork, physical training and education. You’ll be well prepared for coaching roles in a variety of settings, including middle or high school, youth or competitive sport, or club, summer or travel teams.

The Coaching minor pairs well with many major areas of study at UCM, including Business Management, Exercise Science, Sport and Recreation Management and Sport Management. If you aspire to coach along with your chosen profession, especially if you aim to become a middle or high school teacher, this minor may be the perfect fit for you.

Many of our students in our Coaching minor prepare to become teachers in their academic subject of choice, such as History, Science or Social Studies, while expanding their understanding of the responsibilities, philosophies and challenges of sports coaching in school settings and beyond. UCM’s minor in Coaching also prepares you for advanced degree programs, including our Master of Science degrees in Kinesiology and Physical Education: Coaching Option.
