

The University of Central Missouri Certified Hazardous Materials Safety Specialist certificate program will prepare students to work as effective Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Safety Specialists. HAZMAT Safety Specialists work with (or are also) HAZMAT Removal Technicians that target and cleanup materials that are harmful to people and/or the environment such as lead, asbestos, mold and other harmful materials. Typical duties include: evaluate health hazards in order to develop and implement abatement plans and exposure control plans. According to the US BLS, the US annual median income for this occupation was $43,900 in 2019. This occupation is expected to grow by 8% from 2019 to 2029 with 3700 new jobs expected, much faster than the average for all occupations.
