Health Care Administration Program

Prepare to earn valuable industry-recognized certifications

This program prepares students to function effectively in many of the medical billing, medical care administration and health records management positions in the health care industry by combining topics and skills that lead to three industry certifications (AAPC-Certified Professional Biller, NHA-Certified Medical Administrative Assistant and NHA-Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist).

What you will learn

• Important information and skills for health care administration including interpersonal skills, medical ethics and law, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, telephone techniques, scheduling appointments, electronic medical records management and management of practice
  finances.
• Skills needed to access payer specific guidelines, solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures.
• Students will also cover the framework on how to implement and manage electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems such as HL7, CDISC, and DICOM. Students will learn through classroom and computer lab training the necessary components consistent with maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health records.

*Students must pass third party certification exams for each of the three industry recognized certifications.
