Victim Advocacy Certificate

Our course prepares you to make a difference by advocating for victims

The University of Central Missouri’s Victims Advocacy Certificate course will prepare you to work in this rapidly growing field. This recognized course focuses on helping victims in environments such as domestic violence shelters, crisis centers and on crisis hotlines. In addition, the course includes instruction related to working with state and county governments. You will learn how to assist victims as they progress through the criminal-justice system and toward successful recovery. The training is designed to advance your career in the laws of victim advocacy as well as law enforcement. Through this program, students earn a certificate of completion and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.

This instructor-led, online class fits the schedule of busy adultswoman-standing-with-arms-folded

This seven-week, online course will include counseling skills for victims of assault, battery, robbery, domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Discussions will include topics such as restraining orders, basic police procedures, guidelines for helping individuals dealing with the death of a loved one, the role of a victim advocate. Students will also learn about crime victim statutes and how they impact legal actions.
