Dr. Jargocki received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of California at Irvine in 1981. His specialty was cooperative phenomena in quantum field theories. After ten years of teaching and research at Northeastern University in Boston, he joined the
physics faculty at University of Central Missouri in 1991.   In 2006, he founded the Center for Cooperative Phenomena.  When he is not teaching
or writing,  he's searching for the doorway to the fifth dimension.

Professional Interests:

My research in physics focused primarily on the cooperative phenomena in quantum field theories using path integral techniques, with the specific applications to the problem of quark confinement.  Quarks and nucleons obey the Fermi-Dirac statistics.  Such particles, termed fermions, are notorious for being harder to treat in quantum field theory than bosons, particles that obey the Bose-Einstein statistics.  My specific approcach exploited the recently discovered equivalence between the quantum sine-Gordon equation, having boson topological solitons as solutions, and massive Thirring model, having fermion solutions.  Various models of quark confinement, such as the non-relativistic bag, the subject of my later work, the MIT bag, and others are based on nonlinear field theories that play an important role in the emergence of subatomic structures, and have only recently received much attention.

Other interests include: environmental physics, computational physics, nonlinear science, physics education, philosophy of science, science and religion.
