Mrs. Ashley Miller-Scully

Ashley Miller-Scully (she/her) joined the University of Central Missouri (UCM) faculty in 2009 after earning an MFA in Dance Performance/Choreography from the University of New Mexico and a BA in Performing Arts from Iowa State University. Now a Professor of Dance and Chair of the Division of Theatre & Dance, she played a key role in developing UCM’s BFA in Musical Theatre and Dance Minor. Her award-winning directorial and choreographic work has been featured at regional theaters, KCACTF Region V, the Kansas City Fringe Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, earning her multiple regional and national American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) honors.

Ashley was awarded the 2018 ACTF/ATHE Region V Innovative Teaching Award and held the Meridith Harmon Sauer Distinguished Professorship in Theatre from 2019 to 2023. A former board member for the American College Dance Association Central Region (2021–2024), her professional affiliations include SDC (Associate Member), Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri (STAM), Musical Theatre Educators' Alliance (MTEA), and the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). She earned an Intimacy Directors & Coordinators (IDC) Consent-Forward Artist Certificate in 2023 through Level 1 and 2 IDC training, and holds certifications in YogaFit (Levels 1 & 2), Ballroom Dance, Progressing Ballet Technique, Safe Zone Training, and Mental Health First Aid.
