Student Teaching

Requirements to Student Teach

  • Full Admission to the Teacher Education Program.
  • Submit a completed Request to Student Teach form to Clinical Services and Certification staff in Lovinger 2170.

Deadlines for submitting the Request to Student Teach form

  • October 1st for student teaching in a fall semester
  • April 1st for student teaching in a spring semester
  • Requests received after the deadline may result in a delay or inability to complete placement.
  • Complete all coursework prior to your student teaching semester.
  • Achieve the following grade point averages:
    • Content GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Professional education GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • No grade lower than a C in all professional education courses which are designated by a book symbol in the UCM Undergraduate catalog.
  • Possess a current background check on file with DESE.
  • Take the Missouri content assessment test required by your area of certification.  A passing score on your specific Missouri content assessment test is required to be eligible for an initial teaching certificate.
