Dr. Brad Mears brings years of experience in sport to the physical education classroom. He has played and coached at every level, including youth sport, high school, college and professional athletics on national and international levels. As part of the USA Track and Field Team, he won a Gold Medal in the shot put at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. He also has experience in strength and conditioning for multiple sports. He earned his BS in Physical Education and MS in Exercise Science with Emphasis in Pedagogy from UCM. He earned his EdD in Pedagogy with Emphasis in Physical Education and Instructional Technology and a Doctoral Minor in Statistics from the University of Northern Colorado. His research interests include Developmental Neurology, Autism, Brain Based Learning, Curricular Integration, STEM in Physical Education, Early Childhood Development and Education, Technology Applications in Teaching and Learning, Lifetime Physical Activity, Elementary Physical Education Pedagogy, Behavior Analysis and Intervention. He has worked in public schools from pre-K through high school, including adaptive physical education. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, boating, fishing, and traveling. He also has a passion for snorkeling and freediving.
