An alumna of UCM, Dr. Shelby Cobb earned her Bachelor's, Master's, and Specialist's degrees here before earning her doctorate from Murray State University. She also holds an Associate's degree from Metropolitan Community College. She started at UCM in Summer 2023 after teaching Family Consumer Sciences at the high school level for several years. She taught for five years at Winnetonka High School in North Kansas City followed by two years Raytown South High School in Raytown before coming to UCM. She has also worked as a substitute teacher in Raytown and did observations in both Pleasant Hill and at Headstart in Warrensburg. She is an active member of both NEA and ACTE and her research interests include Sex Education and Racial issues in Missouri. She unwinds by reading, sewing, and going on bike rides with her husband and two daughters. Her family also likes to go camping and swimming/canoeing.
