Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education (Position#998449)

Faculty Position in Mathematics Education
The School of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Central Missouri is accepting applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics Education at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will begin August, 2017.

The Position: Duties will include the teaching of mathematics education courses for elementary (including the clinical pathways program), middle school, and secondary pre-service teachers; the supervision of student teachers in mathematics; conducting research which leads toward peer-reviewed publications and/or externally funded grants; assessment and curriculum development. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, which may include General Education classes. A reduced teaching load for research and other professional responsibilities is possible. Faculty are expected to assist with departmental and university committee work and service activities.

Qualifications: A master’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is required. Three or more years of teaching mathematics at the elementary school or middle school levels is required. Experience teaching in a mixed-abilities classroom, as well as incorporating technology in teaching is highly desired. A doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field is preferred and must be completed before tenure and promotion can be awarded. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and continued professional growth is essential.
