Rebecca Lannom

            Central’s Educational Development Center became one of the nation’s best as the result of good leadership and the dedication and commitment of faculty such as Rebecca Lannom.

            Ms. Lannom has retired as professor emeriti of English in EDC after 20 years of service. She came here in 1974 as an English teaching assistant, then joined the EDC in 1975. She served EDC as an adjunct, instructor, assistant professor, and associate professor prior to her retirement. The classes she taught often helped students get the jump-start they needed to succeed in their higher education endeavors at Central.

            Ms. Lannom’s outstanding work in her field was recognized by her peers when she received MRADE’s 1999 Developmental Educator of the Year Award. She served as co-editor of MRADE’s newsletter, contributed numerous articles to the publication, and made paper presentations at several MRADE conferences.

Prior to beginning a career as an educator, Ms. Lannom studied at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in 1959. She received a master’s degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1965, and an education specialist degree from Central in 1983.

            Ms. Lannom is currently residing with her 91-year-old father in the family home in Guthrie, Ky.
