All ambitious and talented students are encouraged to apply. For the 2025-26 application
year, the Provost Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to two well-rounded individuals—one
incoming freshman and one incoming transfer student—who are academically deserving
and actively involved in extracurricular activities at their school or in their community.
While only two Provost Excellence Scholars will be named at the yearly scholarship
event, all finalists qualify for impressive scholarship aid.

Here’s how to apply:
- You must apply and be admitted to UCM for the Summer or Fall 2026 semester.
- Submit both your UCM undergraduate application and the Provost Excellence Scholarship
application by December 1, 2025.
- You must have a high school or college GPA of 3.85 or higher.
- Submit the following documents, as part of the Provost Excellence Scholarship application:
- Your resume
- A letter of recommendation on how you connect with one of UCM's Core Values
- Personal Statement (500 words max):
- Freshmen: "What impact would a UCM degree have on your life, and what life experiences have
led you to where you are today?"
- Transfers: "How has your experience as a transfer student impacted your educational and career
goals or mindset?"
- Student Involvement Statement:
- Freshmen: "How does your involvement or an experience during high school align with one or
more of UCM’s Core Values?"
- Transfers: : "How does your community or student involvement align with one or more of UCM’s
Core Values?"

Rounds 1 - 2 : Application and Selection Process
- Once the application closes on December 1, 2025, we will begin our review process
from Dec. 2 - 12.
- Notifications will be sent on Dec. 12 to the top 20 finalists (ten freshman and ten transfer students) who will move on to Round 2.
- Round 2 will consist of 15–20 minute Zoom interviews with UCM faculty and previous Provost
Excellence Scholarship finalists, scheduled between January 5–9, 2026.
- Following the interviews, five top freshman finalists and five top transfer finalists will be selected to move on to the final round of the Provost Excellence Scholarship
selection process.
Round 3 : Visit campus on Feb. 6 and 7, 2026
Five freshman finalists and five transfer finalists will be selected for a unique
campus experience and personal interviews. If selected, you must be available to attend
on-campus interviews on February 6 and 7, 2026. While on campus, your days may look
like this:
Day One
- Meet with with UCM staff and faculty for your formal interviews.
- Step into the spotlight with a quick (and fun!) media interview with the UCM News
Bureau.
- Choose to sit in on a real UCM class and see what it’s like to be a student here.
- Learn about key campus resources like housing, dining, and student support.
- Enjoy a full day of meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all on us.
- End the day with a special welcome dinner hosted by UCM’s President and Provost.
Day Two
- Tour labs and academic spaces with faculty from your chosen field of study.
- Join an optional roundtable or student panel to hear directly from current Mules.
- Meet one-on-one with your Admissions and Financial Aid counselors to get personalized
guidance.
- Fuel up with a catered breakfast and lunch — again, it’s all on us!
- Wrap up your visit with a UCM campus sporting event — tickets provided for you and
your guests.
- The big moment: the Provost Excellence Scholarship winners will be announced by the
end of the day!
