June 22, 2023A new book by a University of Central Missouri professor profiles three prominent United States Supreme Court “originalists” suggesting that in actual practice this approach to legal decision making does not deliver on its promise of being free of personal philosophy and discretion. While originalists have looked to the text and original meaning of the Constitution as a clear and objective approach for jurisprudence, the author notes that these three originalist justices would likely have come to different conclusions on a variety of legal matters if they all served on the same court together.

June 09, 2023During its June 8 plenary session, the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors authorized revisions to the university’s Fiscal Year 2024 operating budget to reflect additional revenue and expenditures. It also approved FY 2025 operating and capital appropriations requests to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD), authorized a construction contract and the naming of a new golf center at the Mules National Golf Club, and named the board’s executive officers for the upcoming fiscal year.

He not only recently published a scholarly paper in cooperation with two of his former UCM professors and six scientists from across the globe, but the education he received helped ignite his passion for scientific research and prepared him for a rigorous doctorate in chemistry program that will launch his professional journey.

This includes a free, public performance in Warrensburg at the Highlander Theatre on the UCM campus at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, as well as performances at venues in the communities of Clinton, Lee’s Summit, Richmond, Rocky Mount, and Sedalia on a touring schedule that begins May 25 and ends June 8.
