There are many reasons students choose to transfer colleges. You may have completed an associate degree and are now looking to work toward a four-year degree. You could be looking for a more affordable program. Perhaps you’re homesick and want to move closer to family – or maybe you simply aren’t happy at your current school and want to try something new.

Whatever your reasons are, we’re here for you. At UCM, we make transferring easy, and ensure you’ll find opportunities for success. In fact, 95% of UCM graduates launch their careers or continue their education within six months of graduation. Need more reasons? Here’s what you can look forward to when you choose UCM:

1) Award-Winning Programs

Whether you’re looking to complete your degree in aviation, cybersecurity, nursing or education, you’re sure to find your fit within our 150+ programs. We are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and courses are taught by world-class faculty who genuinely care about your success – just a few of the reasons our programs are consistently awarded national designations by organizations such as Intelligent.com, TheBestSchools.org and BestColleges.com. UCM has also been ranked as one of the 2020 Best Regional Universities by U.S. News & World Report and recognized among the 2020 “Best in the Midwest” by the Princeton Review!

2) One of the Lowest Tuition Rates in Missouri

Not only are UCM’s costs lower than most colleges in Missouri and the national average, but there are many scholarship opportunities to help keep things affordable. Finding and applying for scholarships is easier than ever with the UCM Scholarship Finder, which allows students to apply for multiple scholarships with a single application. See what you may qualify for by visiting ucmo.edu/scholarshipfinder. There are even automatic, merit-based scholarships specifically for transfer students! To be eligible, you must be an incoming transfer student, have never attended UCM and have 24 post-high school, accepted, earned transfer credit hours at the time of transfer (excluding summer credit hours for summer/fall students). Our transfer scholarships include:

  • President’s Distinguished Scholarship ($2,000 per year) - Transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher; 3.25 renewal GPA
  • President’s Scholarship ($1,500 per year) - Transfer GPA of 3.3-3.49; 3.0 renewal GPA
  • Dean’s Scholarship ($1,000 per year) - Transfer GPA of 3.0-3.29; 3.0 renewal GPA
  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship ($1,500 per year) - This scholarship is specifically for incoming transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa. Applicants must have never attended UCM, have 42 post-high school credit hours and have a cumulative post-high school, transfer GPA of 3.5. For renewal, this scholarship requires a minimum GPA of 3.25.

3) More Support, Fewer Obstacles

We understand that transferring colleges is an unfamiliar process, which is why we help you navigate your journey from start to finish. You’ll find the support on your schedule via:

  • Pre-application 1:1 consultations with a transfer coordinator
  • Access to our innovative Success Advising Center
  • Expert tutoring for 70+ courses
  • Review and editing services from the Writing Center
  • Free counseling and mental health services (UCM is the only public school in Missouri that has an accredited counseling center!)

4) The Perfect Home Away From Home

It’s hard not to fall in love with our beautiful campus, which is protected by 18 uniformed police officers and a police dog named Echo! We also have a uniformed student patrol team and several campus safety tools including the mobile app, Campus Eye. For these reasons and more, UCM has been named the safest college campus in Missouri!* Here, you’ll find:

  • 11 residence halls
  • Six on-campus apartments
  • 14+ dining options
  • 200+ student organizations
  • Student Recreation and Wellness Center
  • Union Bowling Center

  • 17 NCAA D-II athletic teams

5) Three Ways to Learn

Time and distance shouldn’t get in the way of your goals. That’s why we offer three convenient learning options, so you can earn your degree your way. Choose from courses at our award-winning campuses in Warrensburg or Lee’s Summit, or through UCM online!

6) Straight-Forward Transfer Process

We make transferring easy. With our course equivalency option, you’re able to search for the classes you’ve taken to find out how they may transfer to UCM, and eligible CORE 42 general education credits are guaranteed to transfer 1:1! There are many reasons to transfer to UCM, but our students explain it the best:

“My transfer process was stress free,” said Lyndsey Holman, junior family consumer science secondary education major. “I transferred to UCM from MCCKC, and the transfer representative was very helpful and answered any questions I had. Everyone here wants you to succeed, and I have always found opportunities to grow and learn. There are many support systems and activities to better your education and prepare you for your future career.”
