Through the University of Central Missouri’s Department of Art & Design, students develop their creative talents and technical skills. You will learn to use traditional and contemporary forms of expression to develop your own unique visual language, through instruction from highly experienced and practicing faculty and guided hands-on experience in studio classes.

Ms. Melanie Johnson received her MFA in Studio Art and Painting from Indiana University. Ms. Johnson teaches courses in drawing, painting, and foundations. Johnson's studio work consists of large-scale figurative drawing and painting and deals with psychological narrative themes. Her work has been exhibited locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. She is currently an Artist in Residence at the Charlotte Street Foundations Studio Residency Program in Kansas City, Missouri.
Students in the Department of Art & Design are required to purchase a laptop beginning Fall 2019. More information will be added at a later date.
