Enterprise Resource Planning Minor

Become an integral member of any organization when you develop your understanding of all business aspects. At the University of Central Missouri, we offer the Enterprise Resource Planning minor to provide the holistic view of operations you need through use of the industry-leading SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Are you completing your undergraduate degree in Computer Information Systems and Analytics or majoring in an area of business such as Marketing, Management, Finance or Accounting — or even completing your MBA? Stand out among your peers, whether entering the job market or advancing your job standing, with this minor unique to UCM. You can take all your courses online, from the convenience of your home or another location, or on our Warrensburg campus. Either way, you can complete the Enterprise Resource Planning minor in three semesters or less.

What you will study

Learn the importance of enterprise-wide systems and their ability to integrate data related to all aspects of business on a real-time basis. You’ll first gain a high-level understanding of practices and issues facing information technology and information security professionals — as well as managers in all business facets — including:

  • Programming fundamentals using the widely recognized Visual C# language
  • How to make ethical decisions for purchases and implementations related to IT/IS
  • The principles and basic concepts of database management
  • How to analyze and design information systems using a common modeling language while taking IT security into consideration

You’ll then engage in undergraduate coursework specific to enterprise resource planning for a well-rounded education that helps you become an integral member of any management team.

Coursework specific to enterprise resource planning

In classes led by SAP-trained UCM faculty, you’ll explore how to integrate and update business processes using SAP software through review of case studies of ERP system implementations. You’ll also learn to configure business rules specific to organizational processes, manage Business Process Integration (BPI) activities and perform Business-to-Business (B2B) transactions — lessons that help you understand the impact of ERP systems on organizational performance.

Continuous access allows you to log in to the software using any web browser, whether during or outside of class, helping you become an expert on your terms.
  • Participate in hands-on exercises: See your learning come to life alongside every textbook chapter. You’ll get real-world experience as you learn how to move materials from a warehouse to an assembly line, managing parts along the way. You’ll also compete alongside fellow students as you manage fictional organizations you’ve created as a team.
  • Join CISAO: Engage in educational opportunities and make vital connections with other UCM students or industry professionals when you participate in the Computer Information Systems and Analytics Organization (CISAO).
