Research/Creative Award Recipients:
Award Recipents: Dr. Ho-Seop Cha, Dr. Jason Cole, Ms. Joyce Jablonski, Dr. Lee Liu,
and Dr. Keshav Bhattarai (from left to right)
Dr. Ho-Seop Cha is from the Department of Geography and was awarded a $2,100 challenge grant to support external grant proposal on the equity of public transportation in the Kansas City Missouri and Kansas areas.
Dr. Jason Cole is from the Department of Communication and was awarded a $4,000 grant from software. Dr. Cole will be documenting the choice to live "green" in a community where energy conservation, sustainability and the environment may not be sseen as a top priority. His project utilizes two ethnographic methods of data collection: video- and auto-ethnography.
Ms. Joyce Jablonski is from the Art Department and was awarded $4,950 to help defray the cost for her return trip to China to work with porcelain in Jingdezhen and the stoneware purple clays of Yixing. Ms. Jablonski received money for travel, equipment and was granted the release time for her summer trip.
Dr. Lee Liu, Geography Department, received a $4,000 travel grant to help fund his field research in China wihich will examine environmental health issues with a focus on cancer villages.
Dr. Keshav Bhattarai, also from the Geography Department was granted $4000 to help reduce travel costs for geovisualization of urban landscapes in a 3-D view with major focus on the bordering towns between Nepal and Indai and also between Switzerland and France. Dr. Bhattarai was also granted release time for travel.
Total amont awarded for 2009-2010: $19,050.
