Dr. Shan was a researcher at University of California before joining UCM. He received Ph.D. degree in 2003 from Chinese Academy of Sciences. He had taught in Renmin University of China as assistant/associate professor from 2003 to 2013. He also had worked as project manager and senior software engineer in both American and Chinese companies. His research involves the areas of information security, operating systems, software engineering and database systems. He received several research and teaching awards from Beijing government, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education of China. He got nine research funding as primary investigator from Chinese government. He published two books and more than 30 papers. Some of the papers are on top international journals or conferences, including IEEE Trans. on Computers, IEEE Trans. on Forensics and Security, IEEE Trans. on Dependable and Secure Computing, IEEE Symp. on High Performance Computer Architecture, ACM Conf. on Virtual Execution Environment. He has also served as program co-chair, session chair, PC member and reviewer for a set of reputed international conferences and journals.
