Missouri Governor Mike Parson today announced the appointment of two individuals from the Kansas City metropolitan area to fill vacancies on the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors. Their terms begin immediately with final confirmation pending state senate approval when the General Assembly reconvenes in January.

Approval of UCM Employee Health, Dental Insurance Renewal, Noland Football Office Upgrades Among Board of Governors Recent Actions

University of Central Missouri employee health and dental insurance renewal for 2024, renovation of the Terry Noland Football Offices, and renewal of KMOS-TV Public Broadcasting Systems (PB) dues were approved by the Board of Governors when it met in its Aug. 17 plenary session. These actions took place shortly after the board began its meeting with the swearing in of its new student board member and recognition of newly named emeriti faculty and staff members.

UCM Board of Governors Member, Marvin E. Wright, Passes Away

Remembered for his dedication, commitment and the many contributions made in service to students, faculty and staff at the University of Central Missouri, Marvin E. “Bunky” Wright, Columbia, passed away on Friday, July 14 after an illness. A longtime attorney who served various public and private higher education institutions in Missouri, he was nearing his 14th consecutive year as a member of the UCM Board of Governors at the time of his passing.

Missouri Governor Names Student from Hermann to UCM's Governing Board

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson this week announced the appointment of Hadley Oden, Hermann, Missouri, as a student member of the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors. She will serve a term ending Dec. 31, 2023, and until her successor is named, and fills a position previously held by Zachary Racy, a Riverside, Missouri, student who recently graduated from UCM.

UCM Board Authorizes Budget Actions, Construction of Golf Center

During its June 8 plenary session, the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors authorized revisions to the university’s Fiscal Year 2024 operating budget to reflect additional revenue and expenditures. It also approved FY 2025 operating and capital appropriations requests to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD), authorized a construction contract and the naming of a new golf center at the Mules National Golf Club, and named the board’s executive officers for the upcoming fiscal year.

A lease agreement for golf carts, unit price contracts for a variety of on-call services, an agreement for procurement software services, and the establishment of new course fees that cover increased expenses associated with the delivery of specific academic programs were approved by the Board of Governors when it met on campus on Dec. 9. The governing board also approved a change in the Educational Development Program that benefits employee families seeking a UCM education.

In its plenary session Oct. 27, the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors approved two new options to the Bachelor of Science in Design and Drafting Technology program, the demolition and cleanup of select vacant structures on university property, a contract for timber harvesting at the Prussing Farm, a proposal that positively impacts the cost of education for military dependents, and policy changes that apply to UCM emeriti faculty and staff.

When the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors met in August, it approved a contract with Hollis and Miller Architects in the amount of $2.7 million for professional design through construction services for the renovation of the Humphreys Building. Board action was part of a meeting that also included approving several other contracts and the recognition of Steve Abney, Warrensburg, who served for the past two years as board president.

This was in addition to authorizing an agreement for on-call fence services, the naming of a space for future renovation in the Lovinger Building, and approving updates for the university’s strategic plan.
